3Greenlights.com is currently working to raise the profile of the Eco-Island and to promote the installation of renewable energy technology across the Island. Working with individuals, public bodies, charities and business managers 3greenlights.com is involved in a number of Projects that should make a significant contribution to the Islands sustainability in years to come. Working with professionals on the installation side and providing information via the GREENtank and Eco-Island website 3GL provides up-to-date and relevant information on grants and alternative funding sources to assist with the costs of installations. As one of the motivators behind the Eco-Island Vision we support the aim of making the Island the first truly sustainable region in the UK and using that as a motivator from inward investment from business re-location / tourism / people moving to the Island to live. Blessed with some of the cleanest air, some of the best beaches / walks / cycle rides and surrounded by water and its related sports we are fast becoming a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers and environmentalists alike & ultimately the IOW may well become the PLACE TO BE !!

To provide some useful insight into renewable technologies and a show home that can be visited to show how they can work together to provide s sustainable lifestyle 3greenlights.com is in the process of retrofitting renewables to an 1870 property. There is information on the choice of technologies involved and how they have been integrated together with grant information and some anecdotal evidence of how it is all working on the Eco-Island section of their website http://www.3greenlights.com/ecoIsland.php anyone interested in fitting renewables to their home can also contact them for impartial advice on ( 01983 ) 299886.

We are an educational charity for the environment. Our main project at the moment is Warmahome (funded by the Big Lottery) where Islanders can get free guidance on cutting their fuel bills and keeping their homes warmer. It includes subsidised loft and cavity wall insulation and information about the WarmFront grant scheme.

We run Adopt A Garden (supported by Anchor Staying Put and the IW Charitable Trust) which matches up would-be gardeners who have no growing space with owners who have too much garden to look after.

We also visit schools, delivering green road-shows and helping students to carry out environmental audits.

Future Energy Services are a renewable energy company that design, supply and install Ground, Air and Exhaust Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar thermal Panels, Biomass Boilers and Under-floor heating. Having operated for nearly three years we have worked closely with many local architects and builders. Our staff are fully trained and we are able to certify all of our work. In addition we are members of the government's constructionline and CHAS schemes. We are not agents for any one manufacturer and source the best products that are suited for particular projects.

Wight Heat Briquettes

I am Joanna Richards and in January I started Wight Heat in a redundant building on my farm, Upper Bramstone Farm, Chale
Wight Heat takes clean waste wood, mostly shavings and sawdust in a carbon neutral process to produce wood fuel. Waste is put into the briquetter and emerges as a formed briquette. The natural lignin in the wood binds the material. Wight Heat reprocesses clean wood waste from island joinery companies and other wood workers, and I am currently researching using printing paper waste and marsh reeds to further reduce landfill demand and assist in land management respectively.
The wood fuel can be used for agas, rayburns, multi-use stoves, log burners, BBQs and chimenas, and is sold from the farm as well as in a number of shops around the Island, and on the main land.

The Isle of Wight Sustainable Business Network (SBN) is a free support provision service for all Island businesses, aimed at helping them to identify and act upon the opportunities presented by the adoption of a sustainable business approach. this means helping organsiations to look at how they use resources such as energy and water, deal with waste, engage with employees and the community, design and produce, sell or procure products and services, and more.

The programme is supported and delivered by a number of key Island businesses and organisations. The network meets quarterly to consider a different theme each time, and brings together expert speakers from a range of organsiations to raise awareness and discuss applications for local solutions to business issues. Half day events combine presentations, workshops and networking opportunities, and are backed up by ongoing communications through our monthly e-mag. All Network members are able to access the full range of services provided by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sustainable Business Partnership, including direct support and enquiry responses, training and events and more.

The SBN is fully supportive of the Green Tank and Eco-Island initiatives, and is working hard with its partners to ensure that its programme helps contribute towards their aims for the benefit of the Island's business community.
